The Night Walker

Nostalgia
This was one of my favourite books as a child despite it being quite scary to read at the time, so for me it has been very nostalgic to do a piece of work on something that seems very familiar.
I think mainly because it gets your imagination going and as a kid or early teen this can be very intense and almost seem real. However, this is what made it stick in my mind for so many years later despite only reading it a few times a long time ago (until now).
Emotional Aspect
Daniel has a lot of unprocessed emotions: from him not being able to forgive his mother, to being bullied at school and having no friends. He finds his little stepsister an annoyance and doesn't give her the time of day. He is a loner and his ‘imagination’, Ash, takes advantage of this.
At the end of it all, the traumatic experience brings him closer together with his family. He appreciates them so much more and can reconcile with his mother. Ash is no longer there to torment him and he also makes a new friend at school, Anthony.
